This chapter basically tries to expand everyone’s perspective on media violence and help you see the problem in a more complete and realistic manner. This chapter, is also a kind of notice and appeal to everyone especially to those who are already media literate to impart and apply their knowledge on those who are not yet informed and no knowledge of this disturbing issue on media which is the violence. Parental guidance is highly recommended and required regarding this issue especially on their children. On my part, becoming more media literate in this issue of media violence requires that people think more broadly about the effects and understand the full range of risk to themselves and other people especially in dealing with this misconception and misinterpretation of the effects and influences of media,by that it can be avoided and prevented.

Sports are actually entertaining and exciting. In sport, people usually compete, challenge one another, and exhibits their talents and skills. Many people love sports and they really spend money in just watching their idols and favorite players. This is because of the influence of media and the great role of money in it. In this chapter, Media Influence in Sports, talks about how media use this recreational activity to make money out of it. As i understood this chapter, it gives information in challenging every individual to be aware of what they were engaging especially with connection to sports. Media are very powerful and very overwhelming. It can control one’s life and be slave of it. Media is also deceiving and tempting. seeing this thing, this chapter tries to recognize the proper perspective on approaching media and getting rid of unnecessary and bad effects of it. The chapter distinguishes the real world from media world. By this it can really help those in living in confusion and in deception about the reality of the media and the world. Having this idea of significance of the real world knowledge is very helpful in approaching the media. this would be our basic knowledge and foundation in developing media literacy. having this knowledge is a great advantage in distinguishing necessary information out of the flood of information everyday in our lives. Although media provided resources, it would be very nice if everyone can do their part and have a strong personal locus in seeking necessary information which wee actually need to satisfy our personal choice and needs, rather than just accepting what media gives without considering first one’s need.

Media is an overwhelming reality in the lives of people nowadays. It is a very strong force that easily penetrate and influence human mind. In this article of Pope Benedict XVI, the priest and the pastoral ministry are called to make use of these “new media at the service of the Word. With this, it can be very helpful tool in propagating and promoting the Good news to the world by this new product of man’s progress. using and availing this new technology especially in spreading God’s word is also a sign of the openness of the Church in new possibilities of faster and widened coverage of media for gospel proclamation throughout the world.

Looking at media in positive approach it is indeed a great advantage to those missionary religious priest and lay because by means of media they can contact each other and can save time, energy and money in the mission. Moreover, by the presence of priests and pastoral ministries in digital world, it could establish somehow moderation and minimize abuses in it. I can say that through the presence of the Church in media, many people will not be misled. It is nice to see that the Church is always to the rescue and unceasing reminding the people in everyday about the proper way to live life.

Undoubtedly, television is a very powerful instrument of media. This chapter shows how such instrument overwhelmed the lives of man. This clearly shows that there’s no escape on the great force of media. Everyone can be subjected to it. I can say that television is a nice product of media although they call it an idiot box, it can also be benefiting. It can be source of information and edutainment but also can be used as evil means in exposing unethical acts like pornography, violence etc… In this, we are really called to be responsible on what is proper and act what is supposed to act.
