Indeed, it is. Such remarked of Pope Paul VI is obviously happening right now. Anyone is susceptible in the great influence of advertising and I think, there’s no argument about that. However, this phenomenon does not imply negative and harmful effects neither a threat in human progression and development. Only if we utilize and interpret it in a very unproductive manner and irrational thinking will consume us and eventually be subjected to automaticity, which is not a good sign in dealing the all powerful mass media. Reflecting on this condition of our world now, I can say that we can use these gifts, namely the mass media though it is really overwhelming, we can be a disciplined citizen by following the instructions of the Church and the mass media itself. I think, their instructions are for us to be facilitated and for the common good of everyone. Being exposed in advertisements is actually a challenging one for me. Everyday always bombarded by advertisements, without any proper orientation and good education, everything will be in chaos. Reading this article Ethics in Advertising made me aware of the great role of ethics in advertising, this will really help all the users of the product of advertising. And by this as it was stated in the article users should practice moderation and discipline in their approach to the mass media. Reading this, is an innovation for me to become a good, concern, sensitive and disciplined citizen regarding my approach to mass media.
